Sawah is a modern tropical furniture collection designed by Alberto Aguado Baudil for Kayu Style, inspired by the interplay of light and shadow in Indonesian rice fields and the flowing movement of Japanese mountain streams. First launched at Interior Lifestyle Tokyo 2022, the collection is crafted in Indonesia using premium teak, sintered stone, and natural rattan cane, combining exceptional local craftsmanship with Japanese quality standards. Carefully designed chamfered edges create a visual lightness despite the solid construction, while the refined blend of natural materials and contemporary forms brings a warm, resort-inspired atmosphere to homes, restaurants, hotels, and hospitality spaces.
Inspired by Yamagiri (“mountain fog” in Japanesse) and its mixed temperatures of cold and warm, this unique collection reflects those feelings with the two main materials, metal and wood.
